Faithful presence amid fragile hope
Join us as we look back over the week on stories from South Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America which show disciples quietly living out the Gospel in places of need, pressure, and uncertainty. As we share these reports they invite prayer and simple obedience that strengthen disciple-making movements.
Rejoice
We rejoice in the love that’s been shown in various leprosy colonies in India over the Christmas period. One of those involved said movingly: “In every hand that received God’s Word, we saw hope. In every smile, we were reminded that no one is forgotten. Jesus’ love reaches where pain exists, restoring dignity, comfort, and faith.” This outreach reflects holistic disciple making, where the Gospel speaks to spiritual, emotional, and physical brokenness together.
We rejoice that disciple makers in India are reaching out to people with leprosy, who are often marginalised by their communities.
Give thanks
We give thanks for medical camps in West Bengal that served communities during Christmas. Many people learned for the first time about underlying health concerns such as high blood pressure and diabetes. These moments of care opened doors for deeper conversations about the need for healing beyond the physical, pointing to obedience-based discipleship that invites people to respond to what God reveals.
We are also thankful for partnerships between Christian organisations that allow disciple making to grow and flourish. As conversations continue in the UK, these collaborations reflect empowerment of ordinary believers, releasing shared vision rather than isolated effort.
Intercede
Please pray for disciple makers in Chhattisgarh, India, who invested time in Christmas outreach where faith is dangerous and hope is fragile. Ask for protection, courage, and steady trust in God as they persevere under pressure. This is a clear expression of perseverance under persecution.
Pray also for believers in Türkiye, a very small minority within a large population. Ask the Lord to strengthen their faith, encourage fellowship, and open relational pathways for the Gospel. This reflects movement through relationships in a challenging context.
Persevere in prayer
Continue to pray for Venezuela, where political unrest creates both risk and opportunity. Ask that the network of disciple makers would know peace and physical safety, and that a fresh urgency to share the Good News would lead to new disciples and multiplying groups. This ongoing situation calls for prayer as first work and faithful endurance.
Closing reflection
This week’s stories remind us that God works powerfully through faithful presence in hard places. As disciples pray, serve, and obey in ordinary ways, the Gospel continues to spread quietly but steadily. Through 115.1, these accounts invite us to join in prayer and trust God for multiplication that He alone brings.
