Can I control how long my messages are kept?
Yes, you can now choose whether you want your messages to be kept indefintely or whether you want them to be automatically deleted after a given number of days.
To configure this setting tap on a message thread.
Then tap again on the cog in the top corner of your screen which takes you to your Message settings.
On the “disappearing messages” screen click on the circle (known as a radio button) which best reflects your needs.
If you’re not in a security-sensitive area and need to refer back to your messages, then you may well want to tap on “off” so you can continue to reference your messages indefinitely.
On the other hand, if you are in a security-sensitive area you may want your messages to be deleted a day after they’re received and read, so you have time to take them in.
