New paths opening for disciple making

Join us as we look back over the week on 115.1. Stories shared from South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe reveal how God continues to open new paths for disciple making and strengthen those already at work. As these reports are shared, they encourage prayer, obedience, and the multiplication of disciples.

Rejoice

We rejoice with a team of indigenous Marubo believers in Brazil who were trained earlier this year and are now setting out on their first mission journey into the Javari Valley in the Amazon. Their aim is to seek people of peace among their own people group and begin new discovery groups. This step reflects the empowerment of ordinary believers as local disciples take ownership of sharing the Gospel within their own communities.

We also give thanks that God has opened a door for disciple-making activities to begin in Uruguay, where, to our knowledge, nothing like this has happened before. At the same time, a young Anglican pastor with a deep desire to live as a disciple and help his congregation do the same is now receiving training in Mexico. These new beginnings show how movements often grow through relationships as leaders pass on a simple vision for disciples who make disciples.

Give thanks

Give thanks for the disciple-making team in Japan that we have been praying for. They recently held their first gathering, where the group engaged naturally with the 3/3rds meeting pattern. One woman was recognised as a potential person of peace whose relational connections may help the group grow both in number and depth. This is an example of simplicity in disciple making – a simple, reproducible model that ordinary believers can lead.

We are also thankful for a young new disciple in Ecuador who is eager to learn what it truly means to follow Jesus. Pray that as he learns, he will take practical steps of obedience and begin to share what he is discovering with others. This reflects obedience-based discipleship, where learning from Scripture leads directly to action and multiplication.

Intercede

Please pray for a Sunday school that meets outdoors in West Bengal, India. The surrounding community faces deep poverty, and many children lack access to basic learning materials. Through this gathering, children receive notebooks, pens, and teaching, and families are beginning to notice positive changes in their behaviour. Pray that these signs of transformation would extend into the wider community and open hearts to the Gospel.

Pray also for Madagascar, where communities on the east coast have been struck by two cyclones within a single week. Many people are mourning the loss of homes and family members. Ask that practical help would reach those in need and that many would encounter the comfort of God’s love in the midst of hardship.

Persevere in prayer

Please continue to pray for disciple makers in Germany who regularly visit a mental health clinic. During a recent visit, they joined a weekly prayer meeting attended by members of the clinical staff who pray for their patients. Pray that these staff members would grow in courage to share the hope of Jesus with those they serve.

Also pray for disciple makers in West Africa who are being trained in a holistic approach to agricultural discipleship. This work helps reduce dependency on outside resources, strengthens local leadership, and opens doors for the Gospel in difficult-to-reach areas. Pray that those being trained will be honest about their own need for transformation and model holistic disciple making in their communities.

Closing reflection

This week’s stories remind us that God often advances His kingdom through simple and faithful steps. Indigenous believers setting out on mission, small groups forming around Scripture, and disciples learning to obey Jesus all point to the steady growth of His work around the world.
