Seeds of service and perseverance
Join us as we look back over the week on 115.1. Disciple makers from Africa, Latin America, and South Asia shared stories of practical love, new faith, and courageous endurance. Each report reminds us why sharing matters: to strengthen prayer, encourage obedience, and help movements multiply across nations.
Rejoice
In Ghana, disciple makers recognised that rising fertiliser costs were placing heavy strain on local farmers. As part of their disciple-making activities, they began teaching simple composting methods and how to produce organic fertiliser. This practical care has opened doors for trust and relationship – a clear expression of holistic disciple making – and new home churches are forming as a result.
Across Africa, many chose to obey Jesus through baptism: 15 in Kenya, 14 in Togo, 9 in Guinea Bissau, and 3 in Burkina Faso. In Mauritius, disciple makers among the deaf community also witnessed several baptisms this week. These stories reflect obedience-based discipleship and movement through relationships.
Give thanks
Give thanks for disciple makers from across Latin America who gathered in Peru for a regional retreat. Many met face-to-face for the first time, sensing the Holy Spirit uniting and guiding them as in Acts 13. This gathering strengthened shared vision. Please pray for lasting fruit from these connections.
We rejoice with a brother in Japan who has been faithfully reading and discussing Scripture with a seeker for more than two years. After two and a half years of steady relationship and discovery learning, this man chose to follow Jesus and was baptised in a local river. This reflects the DMM principle of perseverance under pressure – patient, consistent engagement that allows the word of God to speak for itself.
Intercede
Pray for a school in South Sudan that began under the shade of a tree in 2019 and now serves 266 pupils. Some students walk up to 50 miles to attend. Many come from unreached people groups, and the school seeks to raise up a generation of disciple makers who will bring transformation to their communities and beyond. Ask for wisdom, protection, and perseverance for all involved.
The very beginnings of the school.
Persevere in prayer
Continue to pray for disciple makers facing persecution in many parts of the world, including Colombia, India, Laos, and Myanmar. Opposition comes from both local communities and authorities. Some workers fear for their lives or are forced to flee because they follow Jesus. Pray especially for leaders who are singled out, that they may stand firm with grace and courage. This is a sobering reminder of the cost of discipleship and the need for perseverance under persecution.
Closing reflection
The stories shared this week reveal how God works through ordinary obedience – whether by serving farmers, gathering believers across borders, or standing firm under pressure. As we rejoice, give thanks, and intercede, we see once again that when disciples pray first, obey Jesus’ commands, and share relationally, movements take root and multiply.
