How do I make someone a channel administrator?

As a channel administrator, you can make any other member of your channel an administrator. You can also remove current administrators.

Becoming a channel administrator enables you to invite new channel members, approve or decline join requests, and oversee interactions within the channel. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Ensure the person is a member of your channel

First, confirm the person in question is a member of your channel before granting them administrator privileges. If you need to, you can invite them to join your channel at this point.

Step 2: Search for the person’s name

On your channel, tap on the five small profile photos under the channel description to access the “Channel members” page.

Once on the “Channel members” page, use the search function to look for the person’s name.

Step 3: Make the user a channel admin

Once you have found the person on the “Channel members” page, tap on the menu icon (three little dots) on the right-hand side of the screen next to their name. This will pop up a menu.

Next, you will see the option to “Make channel admin”. Tap this option, and the user will become a channel admin like you.

Important information to consider

Be aware that new admins can do everything you can do as a channel admin. Make sure you trust them, as they could remove members from the channel, including you!
